I'm currently attending University of Idaho, studying Animal Science
with Dairy focus.
I want to focus on ruminant nutrition, learn as much as I can about dairy,
then
apply it to my own "micro-creamery", continue to make artisanal cheeses and sell commercially.
I also want to work as a consultant,
specializing
in small ruminant nutrition and dairying.
I plan on having a 12 goat and 2 cow dairy herd
as my starting point, and see where it goes from there.

I currently keep five dairy goats for my cheesemaking and home milk supply. I buy
local cow's milk for some of my cheesemaking, when I don't have a goat in milk.
Four of them will be first fresheners in May 2012, and Paradise will be in her 3rd lactation.
My does will be bred to registered La Mancha and Nubian bucks in December,
which I've planned so that they have their kids in
May when my Spring semester
ends. This way, I'll be able to attend to the goats when they're kidding, and
their kidding schedule won't interfere with my schoolwork.
The LaMancha, Nubian, & Saanen dairy goats are strong producers and
have sweet & curious dispositions.
Check out my cheesemaking page
and see some of the cheeses I've made.
I raise my animals as naturally
and holistically
as possible, although
I
will use antibiotics and other medications if it prevents the
goat from
suffering and aids in her recovery
.
I've moved from SW Idaho and I'm now located just east of Troy, Idaho.
